advertising business resource
on the World Wide Web – and our headquarters
are right here in the Triangle!
The organization and companies are privately
held with an exclusive and nationwide membership. CityhappeningsUSA.com,
LLC has offices
in Cary and Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina.
Cityhappenings.com is the "2003 Small
Business of the Year Award" recipient,
presented by the
Raleigh-Apex Branch of the
NAACP, the National
Association for the Advancement
of Colored People.
Alicia D. Rogers is owner, President and Chief
Executive Officer of Cityhappenings.com,
LLC. In June 2003, Ms. Rogers was selected by ACE
Magazine as "one of four phenomenal women
of the Triangle."
In April 2004, she
was presented the Jefferson Award Certificate
of
Recognition by WTVD ABC 11 in April 2004,
for her Hard work and Commitment to improving
the
quality
of life in our community. Rogers has many
credits to her name. For a complete bio click

Alicia D. Rogers has utilized her talent
and business acumen to not only establish
and maintain three flourishing businesses,
but to benefit the community through various
programs and initiatives.
Besides owning and managing Cityhappenings.com,
DT Media and Design, LLC, and ADR Inc., a
consulting firm, Rogers is actively
involved in several Triangle civic organizations.
Her company, Cityhappenings.com, LLC, is an Advisory Board
Member of the Raleigh Chamber of Commerce, and Rogers
served on the task force of the Chamber's
Multicultural Business and Professional Network.
Her business has supported numerous community
events, such as the United Arts Awards luncheon;
the Bull Durham Blues Festival and the annual Bimbe Festival, both of which
are hosted by the City of Durham; the Aggie-Eagle
Football Classic, the Black Business Expo,
Women's Empowerment Network
with Radio One, the CIAA Basketball Tournament,
Women's Spa Day
and a host of other events.
With
the assistance and creativity of Ms. Rogers, Cityhappenings.com
and DT
Media and Design, LLC., are responsible for such
websites as: CIAA2001.com and CIAA2002.com, the first
ever basketball tournament websites for the Central Intercollegiate
Athletic Association (CIAA), which is a well known athletic conference
consisting of 12 historically African-American institutions
of higher education.
Deep Thought Media and Design, LLC. is a division of
CityhappeningsUSA.com, providing clients with "Multi-Media
and Web Solutions." DTMD or DT Media and Design
(for short) is owned and operated by ADR, Inc.
In
2001, Rogers founded the Business
and Professional Women’s Network of
Cityhappenings.com, a women’s
social group which includes an active
community service and outreach program. This ladies
organization seeks to lead, mentor
and encourage businesswomen.
In January 2003, the Business
and Professional Men’s
Alliance of Cityhappenings.com,
also Rogers’ initiative,
was launched, uniting and encouraging, and empowering the area’s
African-American men.
The objective is to overcome the many
stereotypes of our black men, changing
the image often portrayed of them and in
showing the community that brothers can
come together in peace, unity, business,
strength, networking and in other activities
as a positive representation and to inspire
our black youth. The vision Rogers has
for this men’s
social club- brotherhood is to unite the "brothers" in
our community and cultivate an environment
of positive change.
October 2003, Rogers founded two
basketball teams in the Raleigh area—the
Capital City Ballers,
a semi-professional team, and
the
City Jammers, a development
and subset basketball team.
Capital City Ballers will be North Carolina's
first semi-professional basketball team
and the only semi-professional team to
be owned by a Black woman. The Triangle
(Raleigh-Durham) has the area's
best basketball players (former professionals
and semi-pro) and Rogers recognized this
fact and acted upon it. She has
high expectations and plans for both teams.
Already, the National Basketball Development
League (NBDL) has recognized her efforts
and hopes to soon work with Cityhappenings.com
Sports in recruiting.
Rogers may very well be the first African-American
female in the country to own
and to lead a full sports team. Under the direction
of Cityhappenings Sports will be: flag
football (women & men), softball, tennis,
golf tournaments, volleyball, fishing
events and a host of other
sports and activities for the Cityhappenings.com
membership and the community.
In past basketball games, Rogers charged each
game spectator to bring three canned goods to
support the NC Food Bank. More
than two large barrels of food were collected,
the attendance was phenomenal with a full house.
More charity work via the
sports programs are expected from
the Cityhappenings.com Corporate Enterprises.
Through these and many other civic efforts,
Rogers has and will continue to touch and
encourage Triangle
communities.
Some have called Alicia Rogers a true trendsetter.
Without a doubt, Alicia D. Rogers and Cityhappenings.com
have made
its mark
in the Raleigh and Durham area. Through CityhappeningsUSA’s
national program,
Rogers plans to offer more franchises of her
events, advertising and business website in 2008. At least
5-6 state and city expansions across the
USA are planned. Rogers and
Cityhappenings.com have reached tremendous and
courteous milestones
since being created. If you would ask her, she
would simply say, “Stay tuned for more!”
Among other Cityhappenings.com business ventures
in the years to come will be the construction
of a multi-million
dollar building in 2010, called
the Cityhappenings Members Complex or CMC.
Plans are underway for the development and self financing.
Cityhappenings.com
is actively
seeking pledges and donations from its
membership, friends and partners in this massive effort.
This facility will offer the community and members of Cityhappenings.com:
a worship center, office space, recreational
and a business meeting center. Also included
will be a full size gym for its
basketball team, a restaurant called Cityhaps
Café;
as well as; two large ballrooms and a
day care center. The CMC or Cityhappenings.com Members Complex
is the best to come. Cityhappenings.com
continues to
play host to many social, civic and charity events
throughout
the year. In closing, Ms. Rogers wants you to know:
